All About Vitamins: Vitamin B6 in Improved Infant childhood Neuromotor Activities

Vitamin B6 deficiency may have a strong impact in behavioral effects in child neuro development, a renowned study suggested.
Vitamin B6, also known as pyridoxine, is a water soluble vitamin found abundantly in green peas, yams, broccoli, asparagus and turnip greens,Peanuts, sunflower seeds, cashews and hazelnuts, meat, fish etc., with functions of amino acid, carbohydrate metabolism, brain health, and liver detoxification, etc.

In animal study to investigate behavioral effects of preweaning pyridoxine deficiency, researchers filed the following results
1. Rat with vitamin B6 deficiency expressed less the body weight in compared to control
2. The vitamin B6 deficiency rat also displayed a delay of supported standing and eye opening
3. Reduced open-field activity reflected by the exploratory score was also observed in vitamin-deficient rats

Dr. Krishna AP, after taking account of other co founders said, "considerable effects of prenatal pyridoxine deficiency were observed in the neonatal pups as stunting of growth and in the delayed onset of neuromotor coordination as well as a low level of open-field activity".

These results reflected the important role of of maternal pyridoxine supplementation during pregnancy in reduced risk of child neuro development abnormality, particularly in neuromotor coordinations.

Other, in the support of the above analysis, researchers at the A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, conducted a review of the effect of preweaning pyridoxine deficiency in induced lower the body weight and brain weight in compared to control found that
1. Vitamin B6 deficiency rat showed a delay of stabilisation of reflex reactions
2. Reaction of these group of rat expressed in maturation of neuromotor coordination also significantly slow

Dr. Krishna AP, the led author said, "This suggests that the importance of maternal pyridoxine supplementation cannot be overlooked in pregnant women especially after prolonged use of anovulatory steroids".

Taking altogether, Oral administrated of vitamin B6 may have a profound effect in reduced risk of 

childhood neuromotor abnormality if taken with recommended dose during pregnancy, particularly in women with prolonged use of anovulatory steroids'.
